Summary of Qualifications:
- I have been an illustrator for ten years and worked with a broad variety of clients from film production designers to art directors in advertising, children's educational media, and editorial. I have been a web designer, worked in information architecture, and successfully met the business and design objectives in those fields. Art directors and related clients with whom I have worked would say I communicate well and easily engage in a creative exchange of ideas.
- Earned a Master's degree in 2004 in new media design and production from Emerson College in Boston. I have set academic and project goals and successfully achieved them.
- My artistic skills are top notch. I can generate and visualize concepts, quickly rough out ideas, and of course follow those ideas through adjustments and refinement to bring forth a bold and beautiful piece of art that successfully meets your needs.
- Lastly, I am a member of the Association of Medical Illustrators and a passionate and committed practitioner in this field.
Freelance Experience:Between 1998 and the present, I have maintained a steady stream of diverse and interesting projects. This amidst a Masters in New Media Design & Production from Emerson in 2004, and a move to and back from the UK. Some recent highlights while based in London include:
- "Stardust": Concept design and illustration, Marv films, Paramount Pictures, 2007.
For Stardust I designed the city "Stormhold" from the king lived with his sons. This was a thrill to work on. The production designer had also done all three Star Wars prequel films, and we spent a lot of time working together one-on-one.
- "Halal Harry": 21st February Films, 2005. This was a charming romantic comedy set in London. For this film I created a full shot plan of all the scenes with accompanying storyboards. This was an exercise in sheer production volume, and a greast learning experience.
- Coca-Cola, Skoda Autos: For these commercials I created concept art, working directly with either the director or a production designer.
- "Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest", "Shrek the Third": For these films I created full color illustrations for a set of online games promoting the release of these films. The artwork was as series of realistic yet fantastical backgrounds, as well as various elements for animation within the games.
- For several other film projects I also created concept art. They either lasted for a short term, or were projects that were in various stages of development, and not yet produced.
